The Barn Project offers ready-made, energy-efficient designs for modern barn-style houses. We designed, built and live in one of these buildings ourselves. The model Barn M is a house without bills and our private home. Based on practice and many years of experience, we have prepared over 50 unique, energy-efficient house designs of various sizes and concepts.

Our acquaintance with Barn House Ideas began in 2018. Since it was our first home, and we didn’t plan on proverbially building three times, we decided on a custom design.
That’s when we came across Adam (and later Patrycja) from Barn House Ideas. Something clicked right away, and not just because, as befits an architect, he was still driving an old Volvo (which is appreciated!), but because he simply listened to us. Adam hit the nail on the head with the design the first time, to the point that we hardly made any adjustments. Additionally, we also received a Saab in the driveway, a result of their attention to detail, and Adam knew that this brand holds a special place in my heart.
We have been living in our dream barn for a year now, and we sincerely recommend their services. We still have contact to this day.
Like most people embarking on the journey of building a house, we pondered over the design. After going through “all” the ready-made options, we concluded that due to the specifics of the plot and our requirements/expectations, we would pursue a custom design. It turned out to be a very good decision. I recommend considering it to everyone. I believe that investing in a design (which costs relatively little compared to the construction expenses and subsequent choices) results in a tailor-made home that is properly and optimally constructed, i.e., not overdone.
I had been following the Barn House Ideas blog for a while, so we decided to meet with Mr. Adam, even though a barn-style home wasn’t our first choice. Perhaps we just needed to mature into it…
From our first meeting, we established a great connection and had good synergy. We discussed specifically what we wanted and how we wanted it. Mr. Adam asked questions and offered suggestions, but our opinion always had the final say, and he respected that. It was important to us that he wasn’t just a theorist but a practitioner who had recently built his own home based on similar principles, fully understanding the current costs/problems/challenges.
The collaboration as a whole went very well. Of course, there were some minor issues, but we resolved everything positively. I also took a risk with a different construction technology (ceramic-concrete prefabricates), but I worked closely with Mr. Adam throughout the changes and uncertainties.
We have been living here for a year now, and we are extremely satisfied. We wouldn’t change a thing. I highly recommend it!
I couldn’t decide on a house for a long time because none of them were THE ONE, and I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted. After the first phone conversation, it turned out that it wasn’t that difficult to specify my expectations. All it took was an architect who asked a few questions, and the design process was super enjoyable! (I should mention that I have compared it to the competition.) We have been living here for a few months, and I wouldn’t change a thing. Thank you once again.

Architects are typically expected to deliver a functional and aesthetically pleasing design. Adam went above and beyond for us; he fulfilled our dreams of a modern and unique home. The entire conceptual process went smoothly. We loved the proposed solutions, which allowed the final version of the project to be completed quickly, and we could start building our house. However, the only downside to our collaboration is that it had to come to an end 😉
My husband and I purchased the Barn House M, and we have been living in it since March. As part of the ordered Product covering a Typical Project, the Buyer receives: 3 copies of the ARCHITECTURAL AND CONSTRUCTION design and 2 copies of the TECHNICAL design, together with the construction details. A detailed description of the design content, including sample drawings, can be found here: ‘What does the design include?’ confirmation of the professional qualifications of the designers and their membership in the professional chamber during the preparation of the documentation. information catalogue ‘Projekt Stodoła Recommends’ on recommended products and technologies Depending on the specific nature and purpose of the Building, the content of the Standard Design may vary slightly, but these differences are solely due to the nature of the Building and the requirements of the Building Law. The Standard Design enables a building permit to be obtained after adaptation to local conditions.

The fastest way is to introduce changes at the adaptation stage by the adapting architect.
Changes that can be introduced to a standard design without the Seller’s consent include:
use of different construction materials for the Building Structure (foundations, walls, ceilings, stairs, roof truss), provided that structural and thermal insulation requirements of the Building Structure are met,
changes in the placement of internal partition walls, as well as internal door openings inside the Building Structure,
changes in the placement and geometry of internal stairs,
changes in the height of the Building Structure (or ridge elevation) by 10% (increase or decrease), in particular: the level of the ground floor slab above the designed terrain, the height of the ground floor, the height of the knee wall,
changes in the roof pitch within a range of 5 degrees (increase or decrease),
adding a basement under the whole or part of the Building Structure,
changes in the cross-sections of external and internal pillars.
Introduction of changes to finishing materials inside and outside the Building Structure, as well as changes to the exterior color scheme of the Building Structure, while maintaining aesthetic quality.
Provided that the correct composition of the façade is maintained (alignment of window and door openings above or beside each other) and structural principles are observed, the Buyer may:
introduce changes in the arrangement of windows and doors on the façade: remove or design additional ones,
change the horizontal and vertical dimensions of windows and doors,
use glass blocks,
design additional entrances to the house or garage,
use additional roof windows and roof hatches.
Change, remove, or design additional: chimneys (smoke, flue gas, ventilation) and sewer vent pipes, while ensuring technical and aesthetic correctness.
Provided that the aesthetics of the Building Structure and structural principles are respected, the Buyer may design (or remove) additional external elements of the Building Structure such as: garage, ground-level terraces, winter gardens, as well as internal elements such as mezzanines.
Change the function of rooms, including adapting the garage or another room for residential purposes, provided they are adjusted for permanent occupancy.
Enlarge or reduce the garage included in the standard design.
Redesign the heating system, adapting it to another energy source.
Redesign the plumbing and electrical systems.
